About iQ Zoo
iQ Zoo is an innovative new partnership between WQED Multimedia, the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium, and PBS KIDS GO! that educates children about animals, habitats, and careers using engaging multimedia content, both at the zoo and online! Children can access iQ Zoo with an internet-enabled mobile phone at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium and at participating zoos across the nation starting in 2011, or visit this complementary website for a learning experience at home, at school, or on the go.
We expect that the iQ Zoo partnership will greatly benefit both WQED and the Pittsburgh Zoo. WQED will leverage the Zoo’s expertise in animal habitats and behaviors to create a dynamic, interactive experience that promotes PBS KIDS GO! content in a new, fresh way. The Zoo will gain PBS content to enrich its visitors’ encounters throughout the facility, thus creating a more interactive and valuable experience for children and adults alike.

About the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium
The Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium is host to hundreds of thousands of visitors each year and is one of only six zoo/aquarium combinations in the U.S. Its exhibitions feature educational graphics describing the animals indigenous to habitats and conservation of those habitats, ranging from the Asian Forest and African Savannah to the Water’s Edge. The Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium is a 77-acre complex exhibiting 4,000 animals representing 475 species, of which 20 are threatened or endangered. The conservation education department at the Zoo reaches more than 350,000 participants annually through workshops and presentations, many of which are on grounds, free of charge to visitors.
The Pittsburgh Zoo will serve a critical advisory role in the development of both the technical infrastructure and content of iQ Zoo. The Zoo will also play an essential role in marketing iQ Zoo to its visitors and to the community at large.
